Canines With a Cause

Calling all Foster Families! We need a few foster homes to help the dogs in our prison training program learn about life on the outside on weekend sleepovers and for recovery after neutering or if not feeling so well.

Nothing fancy is expected, these kids just need a kind hand and exposure to family life, yards, children, car rides, the everyday things regular pets take for granted. Can you help?

What Will 2014 Bring for You?

As we close out 2013, one can’t help but wonder what will 2014 bring for you? At National Affinity Services, we also anticipate the New Year and what exactly will happen with the Affordable Care Act? In our daily readings a few common concerns continue to rise to the top of the list.

  1. Are you covered? Will you be able to pick up your prescriptions tomorrow? The Obama Administration has been working directly with several national pharmacies to create a plan to ensure your coverage isn’t interrupted. At this time Walgreens & CVS have agreed to provide medications to individuals that have signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act plans, but have yet to receive their insurance cards. Your best bet is to call your insurance provider, pharmacy and health care providers to best understand your current situation. has a blog post on their site with further 2014, Health Care Reform, Change, Obamacareexplanations as well.
  2. Oops, I haven’t signed up yet? While the law states you must be covered by January 1, 2014 you can still enroll through through March 31. After March 31, if you do not have health insurance you will be fined up to 1% of your income.
  3. Can I use my doctors? We are hearing a lot of chatter  surrounding which doctors you can visit  on the site plans. If this is important to you, we urge you to review the providers covered before selecting a plan.

As we’ve mentioned before, you do not have to purchase insurance through You can view and purchase health insurance right here through our website. On the site, you can view and purchase plans on both the public and private exchanges. There are several benefits to purchasing health insurance through a private exchange some of which include better coverage with more providers offering more doctors and better plans. Through a private exchange you can purchase health insurance after the Open Enrollment ends through the marketplace plans, but you will be fined if you don’t have insurance by this date.

We will continue to bring you updates and translations as they develop! Above all, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year.

Black Friday

As Black Friday approaches you may be planning your shopping strategy and discussing with family members how you will save the most money this holiday season. It is always a good idea to have a clear strategy when planning a substantial financial strain on your budget. At National Affinity Services, we are advising our clients to consider planning and strategy when considering your Health Insurance needs and how you will purchase insurance. How will you respond to Health Care Reform?

Black Friday

It is a confusing time in Health Care. You may be asking yourself, what should I be doing? When should I take action? How will this affect me?  One thing that we are noticing in the insurance industry is that insurance plans for January 1 effective dates are more expensive than current plans. The Affordable Care Act requires all insurance plans to covers certain health care, i.e. mental health, maternity care, dental care for children and requires carries to insure everyone. With this in mind, insurance carriers will most likely see an increase in their costs which results in higher priced plans.

You may be asking what can I do, and what does this have to do with Black Friday? Plans with December 1 effective dates are still coming through with the 2013 pricing, meaning if you choose and purchase an insurance plan for a December 1 effective date you may be able to save yourself some money for the next 12 months (certain carriers may be excluded from this pricing model). This Black Friday, we are strongly encouraging you to consider your families health care needs and enroll in an insurance plan before 11/30 in order to receive 2013 pricing.
